Dirty or Cloudy Water Filters: What Can a Cover Help With?
A dirty-looking filter and cloudy water are not automatically algae problems. An external cover shades a clear housing. It does not remove sediment, clean the water or diagnose a change in water quality.

First identify what looks dirty
Is there a green film on the bowl, material trapped by the cartridge or screen, or cloudiness in water at the tap? Keeping those observations separate makes it easier to ask the right maintenance or water-quality question.
A filter can collect visible particles as part of its job. How often it needs cleaning, flushing or a replacement cartridge depends on the equipment and water conditions. Follow the instructions for your exact filter.
Appearance has more than one possible cause
The SF Public Utilities Commission describes several causes of changes in water appearance, including sediment or rust, mineral deposits, and small air bubbles that can make water look milky. Those examples show why dirty or cloudy does not identify a single cause.
Green or slimy-looking film is also an observation, not a diagnosis. A photograph or a color description alone cannot establish what is growing or whether water is safe to drink.
Where shading fits
If light is reaching a clear housing, a fitted cover can shade it to help prevent algae growth. That is the job of a Part For That water filter cover.
The cover does not remove particles caught by a filter, clear cloudy water, clean an existing deposit, or replace water-treatment equipment. It is an accessory around the outside of the housing.
Keep maintenance and inspection accessible
Slide the cover off before inspecting, flushing or servicing your filter. Continue the housing, cartridge or screen-care routine from the manufacturer. Do not use a shade cover to conceal a problem that needs attention.
For persistent or unexplained changes in the water, ask your water supplier or a qualified water professional for guidance. Describe where you see the change, your filter model, and when it started.
Choosing a cover after you have checked the filter
If a removable shade cover suits your installation, match the full brand and model number to one of our fit guides. Supported options include GE, Culligan and the listed iSpring WSP / WSP-SL models.
The guide explains compatibility and installation. The linked Part For That product page handles your order and checkout.
