How Shading Helps Prevent Water Filter Algae
Shading addresses the light reaching a clear housing. Use a model-matched external cover alongside your filter’s normal installation and maintenance requirements.
Start with the filter’s location instructions
Check the manufacturer’s rules for where your filter can be installed. An external cover shades a housing; it does not turn the filter into weatherproof equipment or protect it from freezing.
For example, iSpring’s WSP / WSP-SL manual includes location and weather-protection requirements. Continue to follow those instructions even when a removable shade cover is fitted.
Reduce the light reaching the clear housing
Algae biology provides the reason for shading: photosynthetic algae use light when other growth conditions are present. Keeping light off a clear housing helps address that part of the problem.
Our covers sit outside the housing. Their purpose is preventative shading. They do not sterilize the filter, remove material already inside it, or guarantee that a housing will never develop buildup.
Choose by the full brand and model
A cover should match the filter you actually own. GE GXWH40L and GXWH20T have separate covers. Culligan WH-S200-C, WH-HD200-C and the shared HF-360A/360B cover are separate choices. The iSpring fit guide lists the supported WSP and WSP-SL models.

Install the assembled cover
Open the package. Your Part For That filter cover arrives 100% assembled, with its clips attached. Slide it up over the clear filter housing, then ensure the clips grab the housing snugly.
Installation takes about 10 seconds and does not require plumbing changes. Keep the cover removable so you can access the housing whenever inspection or maintenance is due.
Keep following the maintenance routine
Slide the cover off before flushing or servicing the filter. Check the housing and follow your manufacturer’s cleaning, cartridge or screen-care instructions. A cover does not replace that work.
